The faceted metamict ekanites that we recently examined were light yellowish green, dark yellowish green, and dark greenish, yellowish brown in color. The refractive index was 1.593 for one of the ekanites, and 1.595 for the other two. All three stones were hazy as a result of inclu- sions and optical irregularities typi-

Phenakite or phenacite is a fairly rare nesosilicate mineral consisting of beryllium orthosilicate, Be 2 Si O 4.Occasionally used as a gemstone, phenakite occurs as isolated crystals, which are rhombohedral with parallel-faced hemihedrism, and are either lenticular or prismatic in habit: the lenticular habit is determined by the development of faces of several obtuse rhombohedra and the...
Land mine contamination in Bosnia and Herzegovina is a serious after effect of the Bosnian War which raged from 1992 until 1995. During this time period, all 3 conflicting factions (ARBiH, HVO, and VRS) have planted land mines near the current-day political entity borders, and as a result the country has had the most severe land mine problems in the world.
Mining in North Korea is important to the country's economy. North Korea is naturally abundant in metals such as magnesite, zinc, tungsten, and iron; with magnesite resources of 6 billion tonnes (second largest in the world), particularly in the North and South Hamgyong Province and Chagang Province. However, often these cannot be mined due to the acute shortage of electricity in the country...
Scheelite is a calcium tungstate mineral with the chemical formula Ca W O 4.It is an important ore of tungsten (wolfram).
