Diana, Princess of Wales, the first wife of Charles, Prince of Wales, and mother of Prince William and Prince Harry, owned a collection of jewels, both as a member of the British royal family and as a private individual. These were separate from the coronation and state regalia of the Crown Jewels.

The Duchess of Cambridge is a lucky lady for many reasons. One being that she is now the owner of Princess Diana’s most famous jewel. Originally created by British jeweller Garrard, Prince Charles chose this grand sapphire ring for his proposal to Diana in February 1981.

These are part of the royal treasury, and were not part of the Princess’s private collection. Other items from Princess Diana’s jewelry collection were sold to private buyers; a large portion of funds from the sale of the Swan Lake Suite was donated to the Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund.

Hopefully, we will see more of Diana's jewelry being worn by the respective wives of her sons, Prince William and Prince Harry. Because I have been watching what other Diana pieces may appear on Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge, I have inadvertently started cataloguing jewelry worn by the Duchess since her engagement to Prince William.
