👉 How to unstick a 14kt gold necklace clasp?

dirt, lotion, skin cells, hair products get trapped in the part/opening that clasp has to slide in back n forth for it to open just try the Dawn and gently keep trying to work it back & forth with some really hot water(just don't burn yourself) maybe also wood tooth pick gently(don't break it off in opening) in opening to get dishsoap down in it. just keep working at it when you do get it off soak it really well in Dawn & boiling water(if it's solid gold) if not really hot water to get it ...

👉 Will a platinum necklace chain be more durable than a gold chain?

Platinum is much stronger than most gold alloys. It's 60% denser and heavier than gold which means it's much harder to bend.Platinum jewelry will stand up to a lot more than gold jewelry.

👉 Why is clasp on 14kt gold necklace attracted to a magnetic?

Probably because there is a metal spring in the clasp. It does not mean the clasp is not gold.

Determining the Weight of Pure Gold in a 14K Necklace. After you’ve determined the total weight of your 14K necklace, you can find out the weight of the pure gold in it. Simply multiply the necklace’s weight by its gold content percentage, which we already calculated to be 58.3%.

It depends on how much it weighs. 14kt gold is 57% pure gold (approx). So, if the chain weighs 1 troy ounce then you have .57 troy ounces of pure gold. Gold is around $1200/per troy ounce. Multiply .57 x $1200 and you get the value of the gold in the chain.

Also note that these examples listed here apply mainly towards 10kt or 14kt gold chains (which are the most common on the market anyway). Silver is also quite popular, but silver is much softer than gold, and will bend, break, stretch, fall apart faster, and will even tarnish as well. (Plus it leaves a lovely black stain on your neck! SWEET!)

Plated gold chains are cheaper, but the plating will wear off after some time, exposing the metal underneath, and you will need to have the chain replated if you want to restore its color. If you are going to wear your chain often, solid gold is a better choice as far as durability is concerned.

2. Determine the weight of your gold jewelry. Put each of your rings and chains on a scale, and record how much each piece weighs. It is important that you consider only the weight of the gold alloy that makes up your jewelry. The weight of any stones set in it should be excluded. 3. Determine the amount of pure gold you have.
